How to create a terrarium

terrariums

One of our most requested (live!) classes is terrariums.

You only need a few items to begin creating your own:

🌻 A glass container

🌻 A plant (or plants)

🌻 Accessories you choose

🌻 We build our base with perlite (for drainage), charcoal (to keep mushrooms from sprouting up!), and sphagnum moss (which can hold about 10X its weight in water). Then, we add the potting soil.

A terrarium eventually creates its own environment, a unique ecosystem that keeps going.

A few of the plants that thrive in these closed containers include:

🌱 Bird’s nest fern

🌱 Rabbit’s nest fern

🌱 Ivy

By the way, you can make a terrarium in just about ANYTHING. We build them in bottles and other assorted glass containers. However, it’s best— when you’re first starting— to use a shape you can fit your whole hand into…

Be our backdoor friend!

The best of friends just know what's happening. They don't knock or ring the doorbell; they walk right inside. Usually through the backdoor.

Provide your contact info here and we'll make sure you know what's happening (and when), so you never miss a thing!
