Everything you need to know about rain chains

outdoor

Rain chains were invented by the Japanese— who are known for combining both function and beauty. They are thousands of years old.

Here’s what you need to know…

☔️ Rain chains CAN take the place of the downspout on your gutter.

You can remove the current downspout or even ADD a new one— using the rain chain— in a place that might benefit from one.

Direct them to a gravel path or downhill slope, so they can direct water away from the house.

☔️ They don’t have to be functional, even though the CAN be.

Many people hang them in the yard and even on porches because of their beauty.

Some people even attach them to the limbs of trees in their garden, where they do function— and can be directed to fill small fountains or even mini-ponds for your birds.

Others direct them to rain barrels to collect water for garden use.

☔️ If you place them in an area that gets a lot of wind, anchor the bottom!
